5 Realistic Wealthy Minded Steps to Achieve Your Top Goal and Get Up Earlier

Alright peeps!! I have found success!! I’ve been able to wake up at least 15 minutes earlier consistently. I have tried sooooo many different things and nothing really worked, until this! And I’ve been able to move the needle forward on my top goal. Are you ready for this piece of magic?? Well let me share my experience with you about how I’ve been able to wake up 15 minutes earlier, consistently, and work on my most important goal.

Let me just set the stage for you. So I headed into work a few weeks ago. When I get there, there’s some projects that were suppose to be taken care of by a couple of my coworkers. When I go to check on the first project, my co-workers tells me he’s too busy to even meet with me and says he’s had other things come up and won’t be able to get to my project for awhile. He wasn’t rude about it; he just shared the facts.

A couple weeks ago, my other coworker had been working on a different project and told me once that project was finished, she’d start my project. Well, I knew that project had been completed, so when I came into work I asked her what the status was on my project. She told me she wouldn’t be able to start it for at least another week because other stuff had come up.

As I was thinking about these two experiences, I thought, things will ALWAYS come up in our own lives that we weren’t expecting. If we don’t have our priorities straight and time set aside for what’s really important, we won’t get the things done that we really need to get done. Ironically, I decided to listen to a podcast on my way home from work and I was glad I did.

I listened to the 8 Minute Miracle Podcast featuring Craig Ballantyne. He talked about how we need to move the needle forward on the thing that’s most important to us. Essentially, his strategy is to get up 15 minutes earlier each day and do that thing that’s most important to us – very first! That way, if things come up throughout the day, we know what is most important has already been done. This is such a great concept because things will always come up throughout the day and if we aren’t working on what’s most important to us very first, we may not work on it at all that day.

So whether your top goal is to lose weight, eat healthier, become more spiritual, start a business or whatever it is, get up 15 minutes earlier each day and work on that specific goal. It might seem insignificant at first, but it’s moving the needle in the right direction, which is exactly what we need.

Ideally, we should gradually increase this 15 minutes over time (he recommends going up to 90 minutes). But do what’s feasible for you right now and then start to increase. If you’re already getting up super early, 90 minutes may not work, but if it does, then work toward 90 minutes. Take small steps to increase the time, but start with 15 minutes. You won’t regret it. I know I haven’t. ?

Honestly, this is the only thing that has helped me get up earlier consistently so far. I am clearly not a morning person. There was another tip I heard awhile ago that I liked. It was doing something you love first thing to set the day off right. I thought this was a good idea, but it wasn’t a strong enough reason for me to get up earlier consistently. My desire for my personal business to succeed is what is most important to me right now, so this has been a strong motivating factor for me to get up earlier.

There’s always things that will come up throughout the day. They could be things like getting stuck in traffic for an hour longer, having to fix a leaky faucet, or a new project at work. Something will always come up in our lives. If we keep saying we’ll do it after this or this then there will always be a ‘this.’ We have to make ‘it’ a priority. Whatever ‘it’ is. Whatever that most important thing is to us right now.

Whatever aspect of wealth you want to increase, you have to make it a priority. Set up that first 15 minutes of your day to work on what’s most important so you can make sure you are working on it everyday and moving that needle forward, even if it’s a small piece at a time.

Let me break it down for you in 5 easy digestible actions steps:

Step 1: Define Your Goal

  1. Think of the end result you desire most. What is it you’re trying to achieve? What’s your endgame? Get clear on your goal.

Examples: Lose 10 pounds. Get 5 new clients in a month. Feel at peace. Start a business.

Step 2: Make Your Goal A Priority

  1. Realize the fact that you can’t achieve the goal if it’s not a top priority. Make it the number one priority in your life.

Step 3: Schedule Time For Your Goal

  1. Make it a priority by scheduling time for it. Take that first 15 minutes in the morning and start working on your goal. As we’ve seen from my co-workers, they didn’t schedule time for my project; they weren’t making it a priority so it wasn’t being worked on. Schedule time to work on your goal, so you can move that needle forward. Start with the 15 minutes and gradually increase the scheduled time.

Step 4: Work On Your Goal

  1. Actually work on on your goal during your scheduled time. Don’t get sidetracked. Sometimes I think, I’ll just check Facebook or Instagram real quick or read a chapter in my favorite book. But I realize my time will be gone before I know it and I won’t have worked on my goal. Keep your focus and actually work on your goal for the full 15 minutes.

Step 5: Repeat Process For Next Goal

  1. This is a continuous cycle. Once you’ve reached your first goal, repeat for your next goal. If succeeded at your first goal, don’t just think, great, I can sleep an extra 15 minutes (or however long) now. Think of the next goal you want to achieve and start working on that goal first thing in the morning.
